I just read on George Grant's blog that Larry Norman passed away yesterday. Back in the day, he was one of only a handful of "contemporary" Christian artists. Here's DC Talk doing a Larry Norman classic.

In the early 70s Pat & I went to a Larry Norman concert in Minneapolis held in a church basement, I believe. Details are a bit vague, but I remember his music as being very contemporary...it was fun to hear the song again.
