House Church

From June of 1988 till the fall of 1990, we had a house church that met in our home.

We had 3 families and 13 people and a few occasional visitors. We still have a special bond with the other 2 families and I now look fondly back on those days. The Christmas Pageant was wonderful. I'll have to YouTube that sometime!

Why did we move on? Probably because we felt a need to not be so fringe, I don't know.

We were able to give a lot of money to missions because there were no paid employees and no overhead. All of our tithe went to missions. All of the guys took turns preaching. We could say what we thought was right without worrying about losing our tax exemption because we had none!

In fact, when Rob wrote our statement of purpose it began something like: We are a right wing, pro-life, radical Republican church that meets in Bloomington...Ha! Makes me smile just to think of it.

Anyway, here's a link on house church statistics that Barna did recently.
